CRKD’s Nitro Deck 2 Ships With A Smarter Approach To Switch 2 Handheld Gaming

After making a name for itself with the original Nitro Deck, CRKD is back with a second attempt at turning Nintendo’s handheld hardware into something a little more comfortable for grown-up hands. The Nitro Deck 2 is now shipping globally, bringing a redesigned feature set to Nintendo Switch 2 while remaining compatible with the original Switch and Switch OLED.

The biggest change is hiding in the sticks. Nitro Deck 2 introduces CRKD’s CaptiStick technology, which replaces traditional Hall Effect sensing with capacitor-based thumbsticks. Along with the promised resistance to stick drift, the system offers adjustable stick resistance, EMI shielding and lower power consumption. In other words, CRKD is taking one of the most important parts of a handheld controller and trying to solve several common complaints at once.

The physical design has also been reworked. Rather than requiring the Switch to be slotted into the controller, Nitro Deck 2 extends around the console using a retractable locking mechanism operated from the rear. A legacy adapter is included for the original Switch and OLED model, while Bluetooth support allows the controller to work with Switch 2, Switch, PC, mobile devices and Smart TVs. The included wired-mode adapter provides another option for players who would rather eliminate Bluetooth latency entirely.

Ergonomics get an upgrade as well, including an offset right thumbstick and more sculpted contours. The familiar programmable rear buttons return, joined by secondary L2 and R2 shoulder buttons. The triggers have been upgraded to digital triggers, while the new metal kickstand should provide a more stable platform when the Switch is being used on a desk or table.

CRKD also gives players plenty of ways to personalize the hardware. Stick tops remain interchangeable with existing CRKD accessories, while a new swappable D-pad system offers four styles across two accessory packs. Adjustable rumble, deadzone settings, Turbo Mode and other controls can be configured through the CRKD CTRL app, which also handles remapping, calibration and firmware updates.

Nitro Deck 2 is available in White, Smoke Black, PAL Grey and the Fusion Limited Edition created with Limited Run Games. The PAL Grey model offers a decidedly retro 16-bit aesthetic, while Fusion combines Glacier Blue and Atomic Purple.

The Nitro Deck 2 is priced at $99.99, with a hardshell carry case costing $39.99. D-pad and stick-top accessory packs are priced at $19.99 and are expected to ship in spring 2026.
