Merry Christmas?
Marathon, Bungie’s critically acclaimed extraction shooter, has delayed its September update. Originally due to start Season 3 on September 22nd, the game will now not see a major update until December 8th.
As part of the move, the remaining team working on the title will shift from a seasonal setup. There will still be a progression reset in October, which will reset your gear and other stats to keep the title balanced.
A smaller update is still planned for October and will include the following:
- A progression and economy reset
- A new Rewards Pass
- Quality-of-life improvements
- Live tuning and balance updates
– Bungie
The update on December 8th is set to have the following:
The content originally planned for September will now arrive as part of our Symbiosis update on December 8. Alongside the new Runner shell, permanent PvE experience, and refreshed Perimeter zone, the update will also include a social space/firing range, an experimental TDM mode, and improvements to new player onboarding.
-Bungie
The December update’s permanent PvE mode is something fans have been requesting since the title was announced. Bungie states that it is the start of a shift in the game through next March. As of now, the game’s player counts on Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam have dwindled to a small percentage of those playing at launch.
