Fancy discovering a new game without having to wait weeks for it to arrive? Shape Of Dreams has just made a surprise appearance, launching on Xbox Series X|S, PC and PlayStation, as well as Nintendo Switch, with Xbox Play Anywhere support included. Better still, the action roguelite is available on Game Pass Day One for Ultimate, Premium and PC subscribers.

Priced at £20.99 on the Xbox Store, Shape Of Dreams combines fast-paced hack-and-slash combat with MOBA-inspired teamwork, flexible character builds and worlds that change with every run.

A Dream World That Refuses To Sit Still

Shape Of Dreams takes players through a constantly shifting dream world, where lava fields, blizzard-covered mountains and star-filled cosmic environments provide the backdrop for a succession of battles.

The action is built around quick decisions. You’ll need to dodge enemy attacks, land skill shots and choose upgrades that shape how your character performs. There’s no single build guaranteed to carry you through every run, meaning adaptability is just as important as knowing when to charge into a fight.

The game offers four difficulty levels, distinctive boss encounters and Lucid Dream modifiers, adding further variables to a formula already designed to keep players guessing.

Nine Travelers, Countless Ways To Fight

There are nine Travelers to choose from, each offering a distinct combat style. Some specialise in close-range attacks, others rely on precision skills, wide-area damage or support abilities.

The important part is how you develop them. As you progress through a run, you can combine skills and upgrades to create different attack patterns, improve existing abilities or stumble across combinations that completely change your approach.

Even when playing the same Traveler, the resulting build can take you in an entirely different direction. That gives the game a reason to keep tempting you into another run, particularly when a promising combination falls apart spectacularly.

Solo Challenges Or Four-Player Mayhem?

Shape Of Dreams can be played alone, where every decision and every mistake rests on your shoulders. Alternatively, up to four players can join forces in co-op, combining their Travelers and builds to create powerful synergies.

Different abilities can work together in ways that simply aren’t possible when playing solo, turning the battlefield into a much more chaotic place. Crossplay is supported across all platforms, so players aren’t restricted to teaming up with friends on the same system.

The console launch also arrives alongside the Starless Path anniversary update, which introduces a new Traveler named Cetus, a new ending, individual storylines for all nine Travelers, and additional costumes, mementos and memories. Players purchasing the game on consoles will also receive the Red Flash Lacerta launch-commemoration costume.

A Surprise Launch With Plenty Behind It

Shape Of Dreams originally launched on PC in 2025 and has since sold more than 1.5 million copies. It also received the Indie Game Award and Best Developer Award at the 2025 Korea Game Awards, alongside an 84 Metacritic score and a Very Positive Steam rating.

That gives the console release a little more weight than a completely unknown shadow drop. There’s already an established player base, and the Starless Path update provides returning players with fresh content to explore.

Since our PC launch last year, a console launch for Shape of Dreams was the biggest request from our community,” said Eunseop Shim, CEO and co-founder of Lizard Smoothie. “We wanted to show how much we value their opinions by combining the console launch with our first anniversary update. We can’t wait to hear everyone’s reactions, and we hope these new updates meet expectations from our fanbase.

Shape Of Dreams is available now on Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store), PC, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch for £20.99, with Game Pass Day One availability and Play Anywhere support. Whether you prefer carefully crafting a solo build or turning a four-player team into a screen-filling mess of abilities, this is one surprise Game Pass arrival worth investigating.
